The Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland established its wine show in 1999 in Toowoomba as the sole Royal Agricultural Society outside all Australian capital cities to do so.
As the oldest show society in Queensland, our focus for over 150 years has been the promotion of agricultural excellence through competition and education, and the RASQ Wine Show continues that original charter.
The wine show committee has continued to develop the class content and participation in this wine show annually with a focus on Mediterranean classes which are open to wines from varieties originating near the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Countries or regions including Spain, Southern France, Italy, Greece and North Africa as well as the islands of Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily.
In addition we have included specific classes for Pet Nat’s and Experimental Wines highlighting the changes in consumer habits.
Entry fees have remained the same this year but have been capped. Once 10 wines have been entered all additional entries are at no charge.
We have moved the date of the show to the end of September with the aim for winemakers to not only have more time for their 2019 vintages but also to get more patrons to the public tasting to enjoy the wines on offer during the busy Carnival of Flowers events to provide more exposure to wines entered.
We also believe in educating the next generation of wine makers by appointing additional associate judges to join the expert judging panel chaired by Tony Harper and involving University of Southern Queensland wine making students as stewards.
Attached is the wine show schedule. We invite you to participate in this exciting event now celebrating its 20th Anniversary.
The show will be held on the 28th and 29th September with the entry deadline Friday 6th September.
