Emerging Leaders Program
Represent the people as our next showgirl or rural ambassador.
As Queensland’s oldest Show Society, the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland is searching for passionate young people to join its Emerging Leaders Program and represent the 2026 People First Bank Toowoomba Royal Show as our next Showgirl or Rural Ambassador.
The Toowoomba Royal Show’s Emerging Leaders Program encompasses the Showgirl Competition and Rural Ambassador Program to support and develop the next generation of community and agricultural leaders. More than a competition or an opportunity to receive a sash or rosette, the program is about providing young people with experiences, connections and opportunities that build confidence, leadership, communication and personal development skills.
Participants are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, engage with their community, learn about agriculture and the show movement, and develop skills they can carry into their future careers and communities. Through interviews, public speaking, networking and involvement in the Toowoomba Royal Show, participants become ambassadors for the Show while building meaningful relationships and experiences along the way. We are proud to invest in young people and help them discover their potential as the future leaders of our communities and the agricultural show movement.
The Emerging Leaders journey extends beyond the Toowoomba Royal Show. Showgirl and Rural Ambassador entrants first participate through their local agricultural show, with successful representatives progressing to the Darling Downs Sub-Chamber Finals, which are proudly hosted by the Toowoomba Royal Show. The Darling Downs winners then have the opportunity to represent the Sub-Chamber at the Queensland State Finals, held as part of the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) in Brisbane.
You can find out more about each of these competitions:
Entries for the 2027 Emerging Leaders Program will open late 2026. Details will be announced through the Toowoomba Royal Show’s social media channels, so be sure to follow us for updates and entry information.

2026 Junior Showgirl
Bronte Blinco
At just 8 years old, Bronte already shows wonderful confidence, kindness and community spirit. When asked what being a Showgirl is about, Bronte said it means talking to people and telling them how great the Show is, and we think that’s a pretty perfect description.
Bronte is already a keen participant in the Show, entering cooking and school work categories each year, and she loves being part of the creative and fun side of the pavilion competitions.
She is looking forward to all the special experiences that come with the role, from ribbon sashing and the fashion parade to meeting new people and learning new things on Show Day.
Outside of the Show, Bronte enjoys being involved in her community through Girl Guides, helping with activities like cleaning up after Christmas lights, marching at ANZAC Day, and helping raise the flag on Australia Day.
Bronte also loves the fun of the Show, especially the fashion parade, the ferris wheel, dodgems, ducks and getting to hold the chickens!

2026 Rural ambassador
Jazmin O’Leary
Jazmin is currently studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Technology at the University of Southern Queensland, where she is also the Vice President of the Inter Collegiate Meat Judging Team. Her passion for agriculture has been shaped through hands-on experience working on a large cattle station in North Queensland, where she gained valuable skills in mustering, cattle handling and station operations.
Beyond the yards and classrooms, Jazmin has a deep passion for advocating for rural communities and education for regional children. Her time working as a governess on a remote cattle station opened her eyes to the challenges faced by rural students and inspired her commitment to ensuring young people in the bush have access to opportunity.
Agricultural Shows play an important role in connecting communities to the industry that feeds and clothes the nation, and Jazmin is passionate about helping tell that story. She hopes the Rural Ambassador program will help her further develop skills in leadership, public speaking and industry engagement, while proudly representing agriculture and regional communities.

Her dedication to the community extends far beyond the Show – Jess is also a volunteer for Hike for Homeless and Peak 2 Park, as well as a lifesaving blood donor.
